On Monday, the head of the Luhansk region under Russian rule said that a fuel depot had been damaged by Ukrainian shelling and this led to a fire in Dovzhansk.
Such an attack is the third by Ukraine on depots in the area this month.
Using the Telegram messaging app, Leonid Pasechnik claimed that Ukrainian forces bombed it with cluster munitions. According to Russian-sponsored local administration, Sverdlovsk (this town’s name during Soviet times) was attacked by Ukraine.
Pasechnik added that while at the scene emergency services were present for preventing any damage to nearby buildings by the fire taking place in Dovzhansk southwards from Luhansk, which is its main city.
This was confirmed earlier today, according to Pasechnik.
No words about that came from official Kiev as far as attack on fuel depot is concerned. It seems like bloggers found out about this strike and even posted photographs of huge plumes of smoke ascending into sky over forested areas.
Pictures of waste outside an apartment building have also emerged after another strike in the same region was reported by bloggers.
Mr. Pasechnick describes an earlier raid during May targetting Rovenky near Dovzhansk and fuel storage depots in Lugansk.
