On his ashram’s terrace stands a painting of Bhole Baba. Who used to be a police constable but now happens to be a preacher.
The priest admitted being “extremely upset” in his initial reaction to the accident that occurred during his last sermon and resulted in death on July 6.
Bhole Baba’s speech on July 2 in Hathras (Uttar Pradesh) has taken lives of 121 people; most of them were women. There was a subsequent stampede which led people, like those among more than 250 thousand others. Who had come to see him preach, rushed for the doors.
However, he had not been sighted after that tragic day. While seven other people have been detained by the police as users claimed.
Some people involved in organizing the prayer meeting are wanted for arrest according to a police report issued after the tragedy but Baba’s name is not mentioned there.
“We believe God will punish them,” Bhole Baba said in an address aired by broadcasters.
“Heavenly Father helped me through this agony,” he added.
It could not be establish immediately from where this former cop turned prophet appearing in white dress only talks from.
The lawyer told AFP on July 4th that he was not hiding from the authorities but refused to say where he was located.
The riots caused by some miscreants in the crowd led to the stampede, argued Baba’s advocate.
As per reports appearing in local press, he might be holed up at his monastery close-by. Whose gates have been shut and barred from outside entry by supporters within it.
Afterwards, about twenty policemen were station at its main gate following chaos with no access inside apart from walling. It with about five meter high cement walls (fifteen feet tall).
Seven organizers were arrested by cops while judicial probe is being conducted into circumstances surrounding it.
