Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy announced that the recruitment of Group-I posts would be completed by March 31, 2025 this year thus paving way for the recruitment of Group-I officers after 14 years.

“We successfully conducted Group-I exam despite the hurdles created and will complete the recruitment by March 31, [2025]” Mr. Reddy said criticising the Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) for failing the unemployed and their aspirations during its two terms in power.

The Chief Minister said the BRS did not conduct a single Group-I examination since Telangana was formed 11 years ago and said it reflected its attitude towards the unemployed youth. “On the other hand, the Congress government filled up 55,000 government jobs within a year of assuming power,” he said.

Mr. Reddy was speaking after distributing cheques of ₹1 lakh each to the Civil Services aspirants who did well in the Civils Mains examination from Telangana, in Hyderabad, on Sunday (January 5, 2025.) The Rajiv Gandhi Civil Abhayahastham scheme was launched by the Congress government to encourage Civil Services aspirants.

The Chief Minister said the scheme was aimed to encourage Telangana youngsters to compete and bag jobs at the national level, particularly civil services. He said Bihar State despite being backward produces lot of civil servants and hoped that in the near future Telangana youngsters would be on the top in the country.

Twenty candidates who cleared the Mains were given ₹1 lakh cheques each. He told the aspirants that it was not financial assistance but encouragement given by the government. He hoped that everyone who appears for the interview would be selected for the top services.

Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka said the government would provide hostel facilities in New Delhi to those selected for the interview so that they can prepare with full focus on the exam.

Mr. Vikramarka alleged that the previous BRS government used the Singareni Collieries for political advantage rather than working to put it on the international map. He said the Singareni employees’ contribution to Telangana and national growth was recognised only by the Congress government.

The Rajiv Gandhi Civils Abhaya Hastham is supported by the Singareni Collieries Company Limted (SCCL). Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageshwar Rao, CPI MLA Kunamneni Sambasiva Rao and SCCL Chairman N. Balram were also present. The financial assistance of ₹1 lakh is provided to about 400 aspirants who qualify for the Mains every year. Earlier in December 2023, 135 aspirants who qualified for the Mains were given cheques by the CM.
