Fans of Indian music will have plenty of options as Perfect Harmony Productions together with Panache Media come up with a classic music extravaganza that is a first of its kind multi-city celebration of our musical masters. As We Speak, an IP that will be touring places where tabla and bansuri coexist with the upright bass and 5 string banjo, showcasing dauntless talents of Grammy Award winners Béla Fleck, Zakir Hussain, Edgar Meyer, and Rakesh Chaurasia has plans of captivating its audience in January 2025 with the art of music confinement where everything splendid is integrated as well as expansion of different genres with Indian classical music.
These legendary musicians, all of whom are singers who hold Laureates of the Grammy Award, were awarded a total of 31 prizes in respect of their virtuosity and novelty along with two for their 2023 album As We Speak. The presentation that they give in this performance piloting is so powerful that leaves no doubt about the great potential of arts to mix cultures, lead to depths of emotions. The four will together do the best in weaving the complex beats combined with the smooth melodic lines of Indian classical music and the freedom and groove of Western adorned jazz.forms to create a better understanding of the beliefs.
Musical wizard Zakir Hussain remarks, “I have a special place in my heart for India. It feels like a dream to come back to my country and play with such talented musicians. This is a concert to promote the language of music, so barnstorming with British and Indian classical forms! It is a bridge for fusion between Indian classical and Western jazz. With Béla, Edgar and Rakesh making music has been a dream. The quality of their music and their attitude made this project unbelievable. I cannot wait to bring the fiery force of our music to the Indian people like a wire to a socket.”
And banjo legend Béla Fleck says this, “India is a treasure house of music. Since childhood, I have been interested in the beautiful chaos, the extreme complexity of Indian classical music. It is always a treat to perform in India. It is the audiences that I like-they are full of fire, enthusiasm and passion.”
As for double bass doyen Edgar Meyer, he states, “I look forward to learning more about the relationships that exist between Indian classical music and jazz music originating from the West. I wish that the audience will be able to come out of the performance, full of energy, and add warmth to the ongoing dialogues about music not only as an art but as a universal language.”
As for eminent flautist Rakesh Chaurasia, he states, “I very much want that after listening to our music, the new generation of Indian musicians and fans would want to go deep into the various styles of the Indian classical music.”
