A government worker from Hyderabad who fell victim to an online fraud and had lost INR 97,312 got all of it back without filing a complaint or FIR. According to the Hyderabad Cyber Crimes police, she called helpline number 1930 at night on July 11 about the scam. “On hearing about the incident, our officer B. Sandeep swung into action and posted an e-FIR that blocked a transfer of INR 97,312 through the bank,” said police.

Meanwhile, cyber crime police have advised citizens against opening emails or messages with links embedded in them. “In case you accidentally expose your password/CVV/PIN immediately change it. If you are a victim of cyber financial fraud please report it as soon as possible by calling Cyber Crime Helpline Number 1930 or browsing http://www.cybercrime.gov.in,” states advisory.
