Kroshik is a Russian cat, nicknamed ‘Crumbs’ by his affectionate fans, whose overweight-loss camp story is making headlines for the right reasons.
This ginger behemoth turned out to be a glutton and weighed an impressive 17 kilos after having more than cookie and soup for his meals.
They found him down in the basement of a hospitals in Russia, for as it has been reported, the staff loved so much to advanced feeding the poor thing, it got out of hand.
Kroshik now at Matroskin Shelter in Perm is faced with the biggest problem of his life -his weight. The first thing they did was to put him on a diet which they were hoping to introduce running on a treadmill as soon as he was able to move more.
But Crumbs is not happy about his new way of life. The other another day, he attempted to break out and got stuck in one of the shoe racks. The images illustrate how his great tummy got mired between the bars so that he could not shift, with his head stuffed into one of blue crock shoes.
Regardless of the botched attempt to escape, the kitty still managed to relax after getting some food inside him.
Because of his stature, movement had become farfetched and the shelter veterinarians had ended up encountering difficulty performing even simple health check ups because of excess body fat.
Many came to know him, especially those comparing him with Garfield the cartoon cat. Volunteers at the shelter quipped that his state was an unusual instance of ‘too much affection’ for an animal, observing its bad disproportion.
Kroshik’s ideal weight should come to 4.5 kilograms – which means around 69 percent of his current weight has to be shed. By mid-September, however, the weight loss had brought it to 15,4 kg already.
