Fourth Phase of Voting for Lok Sabha Elections: India gears upmore than 1,717 candidate in the fourth phase’s 96 constituencies from 10 statesand union territories across the country.
The Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) has analyzed self-declared statements by 1710 out of the scheduled 1717 candidates contesting elections on May13 and found that of these, 476 are “crorepatis” with assets worth over INR10 crore, while there were assets in criminal case on them.
The richest contestant:
According to ADR reportthere is a candidate with highest amount of money. Dr. Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani is contesting Guntur parliamentary seat from Andhra Pradesh as a member of Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and her net property value amounts to Rs5.705 billion.
Next comes Konda Vishweshwar Reddy, representing BJP from Chevella constituency in Telangana state who has assents worth more than Rs4.568 billion.
Prabhakar Reddy Vemireddy, affiliated to TDP and representing Nellore constituency in Andhra Pradesh takes third place with his wealth amounting to Rs716 crore.
BJP’s Krishna Nagar candidate Amrita Roy stands at number four having resources worth Rs554 crores.
At Number five is CM Ramesh from Anakapalle constituency, Andhra Pradesh representatiing BJP party who has declared an asset base amounting to Rs497cr.
Dr.Gaddam Ranjith Reddythe INC contestant has total assets about Rs435 croresand appears as number six among those competing in the fourth stage.
Candidate With The Least Assets
24 candidates have claimed no wealth at all according to ADR whereas their identities were not disclosed in the report.
Katta Anand Babu, an independent nominee from Barpatra(SC )constituency Andhra Pradesh sits at the bottom of the pile with only Rs 7 as personal assets.
Santosh Ubale, a Bhim Sena candidate from Maval constituency in Maharashtra is ranked second to the last having declared assets valued at Rs83 Cr.
Bhor Vikas Rohidas, an independent aspirant from Maharashtra’s Shirur is marked third poorest with total worth of Rs90 Cr.
Jalamsing Sutum Pawar another independent contestant from Nandurbar (ST) constituency in Maharashtra while Shesherao Chokhoba Veer belonged to Prabuddha Republican represented Beed constituency in Maharashtra both have assets worth Rs500 cr.
The states going for the fourth phase that will be held on May 13 include Andhra Pradesh (25 seats), Bihar (5 seats), Jharkhand (4 seats), Madhya Pradesh Telangana(17 seats), Uttar Pradesh (13 seats) and West Bengal(8seats).
Some of the prominent candidates contesting for these elections include YS Sharmila, YS Avinash Reddy, Pemmasani Chandrasekhar, Giriraj Singh, Awadhesh Kumar Rai, Lalit Kumar Yadav, Arjun Munda , Madhavi Latha , Asaduddin Owaisi , T. Jeevan Reddy,Sarika Singh Baghel,Ram Shankar Katheria ,Shatrughan Sinha ,SurinderjeetSingh Ahluwalia Smt. Geeta Koda ,Pradeep Kumar Panigrahyamong others.
