Frankfurt Airport announced on Friday their expectations of delays and outright cancellations for flights based on a technical error within the German traffic control system but later returned to make clear that the problem had been sorted out.
Air traffic controllers in Germany operate under the DFS and one of the company’s representatives has noted that a countrywide problem in data transmission has been noticed but it is now getting better. Other cities like Dusseldorf are also likely to be affected.
Some technical defects have been able to destroy the system. According to Fraport, the airport management company, these defects appeared last somewhere around 10 a.m. (0800 GMT).
The airport recommended passengers to verify the operation of their air company’s flights on the official websites of the air companies.
Frankfurt is the largest German airport, last year it served approximately 60 million passengers.
