Four killed, 10 injured in accident in Salem district | Parami News

On Wednesday, June 12th, 2024, four people died as a result of a road accident involving a private bus in Achanguttaipatti in Salem District. In Sukkampatti located near Ayodhiyapattinam in Salem district on Wednesday 12th June 2024, a girl and three other persons died instantly after their bikes were hit from the back by a private bus.

According to the police, Lakshmanan (35)—a daily wage worker of Poovanur was proceeding with his wife Vedavalli—towards another town on two wheelers to attend the wedding ceremony of their relative. On the same road but different two-wheeler, one adult male together with one adult female and one child was heading towards Sukkampatti through Salem-Tirupattur road

Both motorcycles were trailing behind a lorry that had slowed down to cross over a speed bump when suddenly it happened that achankuttapati bound privately owned city bus collided first with all bikes then both vehicles crashed into this truck. These five were injured during the accident. As for those who were not yet identified and are three people aboard the second bike including Vedavalli who died at that spot beside Lakshmanan injured himself he however found refuge inside any private hospital where he was taken. Close to ten passengers of this bus also sustained injuries which saw them admitted at Government Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical college hospital.

All four bodies were moved to undergo an autopsy at the hospital while Veeranam police registered an FIR and began investigations. The accident led to blockage for more than half an hour on that particular stretch of road.
