Hulk Hogan’s, a WWE legend, has been criticized heavily after making controversial comments about Kamala Harris, the US Vice President and a 2024 democratic presidential candidate. While promoting his new beer, the 71-year-old former wrestling champion whose real name is Terry Gene Bollea made racist remarks and hinted at body-slamming her.
“Do you want me to drop my leg on Kamala?” asked Hogan on camera in front of an audience. It was a reference to one of his iconic wrestling moves. The comments were especially controversial because of what he said next.
There have been similar attacks on Harris in the past because Donald Jasper Harris, her father, is Jamaican-American while Shyamala Gopalan, her mother, is Indian immigrant. Hogan’s who is known for endorsing Donald Trump as Republican’s nominee for presidency also added his voice to such criticism when he questioned if she had Indian heritage apart from being Kamala as well. “Is Kamala a Chameleon? Is Kamala Indian?” said Hogan’s. Who however admitted that this statement will likely be “criticized” attributing it with “the beer talking.”
This comes not long after Trump launched a racial attack on Harris questioning whether she was “Indian or Black.” The president argued that until she decided to run in black district she liked to emphasize that she was Asian-American. JD Vance who happens to be Trump’s running mate supported that line calling her “chameleon-like”.
In the midst of all these developments during the Democratic National Convention (DNC) being held in Chicago Hulk Hogan has poured oil into fire already burning in American politics. Over four days there will be culmination at which point Harris will formally receive an endorsement as the Democratic Party candidate for November elections.
Democrats rally behind Harris at the DNC
In relation to this event, powerful showing of unity and support towards Kamala Harris has been seen during the Democratic National Convention (DNC). Former US President Barack Obama as well as his wife, Michelle Obama made a strong case for Harris during. They are now ready to hit the road on the home stretch of her campaign.
Democratic leaders have been unapologetic in their quest to prevent a second Trump term. For instance, Michelle Obama stated that hope was making a comeback following increased momentum building towards November elections by Harris. She keeps receiving endorsements from key figures within the party because she has described her campaign as being “people-powered.”
Apart from this, Senators Chuck Schumer and Bernie Sanders have shown their support for Harris. Which strengthens her position further as the nominee for democrats.
In an unexpected move where Trump’s ex-press secretary, Stephanie Grisham. Who is now one of his fiercest critics came out in support of Kamala Harris. “Trump has no empathy, no morals, and no fidelity to the truth,” Grisham said. “I love my country more than my party. Kamala Harris tells the truth. She respects the American people. And she has my vote.”
As DNC goes on differentiating between Democrat and Republican presidential aspirants becomes clearer creating anticipation of highly contentious election in November this year.
