Jen Psaki, the former White House press secretary, has criticized JD Vance, a Republican vice-presidential candidate and Ohio senator over his “inauthenticity” during the campaign period. Speaking on MSNBC, Psaki said “There is an odor of falseness about politicians… This person is not genuine.”
Vance whose recent reversal in stance regarding support for former President Donald Trump has been making headlines once faced severe criticism for making a controversial joke about Diet Mountain Dew that argued Democrats would say “That it’s racist to do anything.” Such comment and his sudden leash on Trump’s populism have received condemnation from all sides.
Jen Psaki is quoted by the Hill as emphasizing Vance’s inconsistency in politics saying he’s not presenting himself as who he was for many decades before he had this kind of about-face… just to try to connect with MAGA world. He added, “Voters are not dumb; they’re smart.”

On July 15th, Trump announced Vance as his vice-president running mate via a Truth Social post which represented a big departure in Vance’s political career. His alignment with former president Trump’s agenda despite having previously opposed him raised questioning about his genuineness.
The various activities carried out by Vance while campaigning have continued attracting attention. Lately, upon simultaneous landing of their planes both in Wisconsin where Vice President Kamala Harris landed at the same time as him, Vance approached her. In front of journalists, he said: “I thought I’d stop by here and take a look at the plane…I am hoping that will be mine in some months.”
“But I also thought you guys might get lonely because the Vice President doesn’t answer questions from reporters and hasn’t for 17 days,” he added. “Have they given you guys an explanation for why she won’t take questions from reporters? No. Nobody? Okay, great,” he asked the reporters.
After President Joe Biden withdrew his name from consideration at the Democratic National Convention, Kamala Harris secured the party’s nomination for president. Trump, wants to go back to White House as America heads towards the 2024 Presidential election following his controversial exit in 2020.
