Three teachers have been sent on deputation to the Government Higher Secondary at Devarmalai in Bargur Hills in Erode district
The District Educational Officer has posted three teachers on deputation to the Government Higher Secondary School at Devarmalai in Bargur Hills following a report published in about students who were suffering due to a shortage of teachers. These teachers started working on June 24, 2024, which was Monday.
A report titled ‘Shortage of teachers at government school hits students in Bargur hills in Erode’ was published on June 22, 2024. On June 23, he ordered for three teachers to be appointed through an inquiry made with the educational department officials and the process was expedited. The CEO issued orders posting three teachers on deputation to that school.
A post-graduate teacher for mathematics at the Government Model Higher Secondary School of Anthiyur and a post graduate teacher for economics at the Indian Oil India Limited (OIL) High School near Duliajan have been posted every week on Mondays and Wednesdays respectively till further orders are received. For example, both of these educators began teaching classes eleven along with twelve from Monday onwards. Similarly, a math’s science graduate teacher from the Government Model Higher Secondary in Anthiyur was assigned to take care of Tuesdays and Thursdays classes. It said that they should stay there until further instructions.
At present there are 243 students studying from class VI-X. Out of eight sanctioned posts for teachers only three are available now for taking classes. Likewise only four postgraduate teachers against six sanctioned strength is available among ninety seven students studying so far class XI-XII. Till date no teacher has been appointed as there would be need of creating posts of arts subject, economics, commerce, history and accounts.
According to him as happened last time round such personnel would be taken on deputation and part time teachers would be also recruited through the school management committee. The CEO said that no chance was to be given for studying of students living in hills being affected.
