In the morning of Thursday, August 22, 2024 in Odisha’s Ganjam district, a passenger bus was hit by an oil tanker which resulted to death of five people and injuries to twenty others.
The passenger bus had more than fifty people who were on their way to Berhampur town from Bhanjanjagar. An oil tanker coming from the other side collided with the vehicle near Kanjuru Square at Sambarjhol. The driver of the tanker lost control while trying to overtake a truck.
This caused two people that were taking their tea in the morning outside that shop to be run over and die. Four individuals died on the spot whereas grievously injured ones were admitted into MKCG Medical College Hospital in Odisha. Local inhabitants helped out passengers as well as other individuals present in the stall where tea is sold.
