It was reported on Tuesday, July 16th, 2024 that five pilgrims lost their lives and more than thirty others were injured when their bus collided with a tractor on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway.
Police said the dead persons were warkaris (devotees of Lord Vitthal) who had left for Pandharpur’s Ashadhi Ekadashi celebrations from their hometown Dombivli near Mumbai.
At about midnight, the bus hit a tractor and plunged into a canyon.
DCP Vivek Pansare explained to journalists that when the bus crashed into a tractor near Adne village yesterday, there were forty-two passengers from Dombivli going to Pandharpur.
According to him, they were rushed to a nearby hospital where three of them are in critical condition.
