For almost eight years, there was a longing among Indian cinephiles to see Fawad Khan in a Hindi film again. The Pakistani heartthrob, who has been known for his enchanting personality and impressive acting skills, left an emptiness in Bollywood after his last appearance in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil film of 2016. But not any longer as per the Filmfare’s reports that Fawad Khan is ready for a much anticipated comeback! It is reported that Fawad Khan will allegedly be featured alongside Vaani Kapoor on this new movie according to a publication, marking his long-awaited return to Bollywood.
This report states that the film is set to go into production soon with London being the first location where shooting will take place. And while pre-production is fixed, rest of the project remains watertight till now. This shows how much they know about their own roster and want to get the maximum impact out of it before revealing it.
“Fawad Khan has great international pull given his popularity amongst South Asians globally. He has also been part of Marvel Cinematic Universe. No details about this project are out and everyone is tight lipped over it. The producers will announce this just before its UK filming schedule begins,” informs trade source tells. It’s an international project which will be released in Hindi language entirely shot in UK but also directed by Aarti Bagdi.
Eastwood Studios’ very first international collaboration was this still-untitled film. Eastwood Studios was established by Vivek B Agrawal (ex-Reliance/Phantom) and Devang Dholakia. Vivek already produced successful independent movies such as Queen, Udta Punjab, Super 30, Sacred Games- Netflix’s debut series from India which became global blockbuster on the platform.
The rom-com shows how two broken individuals find themselves helping one another thanks to some kind of supernatural phenomenon. It is a natural outcome of their magnetic bond that they fall in love. “Vaani Kapoor has done some big films and she was the perfect choice for this project given how she shrunk her public appearances. The makers wanted a very fresh casting where Fawad falls in love with a beautiful Indian girl and Vaani fit right in,” says the same individual.
Fawad Khan’s absence from Bollywood films can be traced back to political tensions between India and Pakistan in 2016. Following Uri attack, several Pakistani actors including him faced restrictions on working in India. This led to his departure from ongoing projects and left fans heartbroken. Nonetheless, the ban was lifted in December 2023
However, Fawad Khan’s last work included Pakistan’s highest grossing blockbuster movie The Legend of Maula Jatt as well as Ms Marvel international series.
On the professional front, Fawad Khan is currently busy working on several other projects. It all begins with ZEE5 and Zindagi’s Barzakh set for global release on July 19th. Next would be Shandur which seems to be heading for SonyLIV platform. There is also Jo Bachay Hain Sang Samait Lo, Pakistan’s first ever Netflix project, lined up for release later this year. Where he stars alongside Mahira Khan as well as producing it himself.
Meanwhile Vaani Kapoor will be part of Ajay Devgn starrer Raid 2, Akshay Kumar-led Khel Khel Mein & Mandala Murders.
