This year, Excel Entertainment along with Chalkboard Entertainment and Suitable Pictures has once again hit the mark as Boong was selected to be part of Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).
The makers of Boong—Farhan Akhtar-Ritesh Sidhwani will premiere at 49th Toronto International Film Festival.
Boong is the story of a boy from Manipur valley who wants to surprise his mother by gifting her something. He however thinks that it would be special if she could bring back their father in this manner. A surprising gift would await his search for the same.
Director Lakshmipriya Devi had always dreamt of telling stories so she chose to direct Boon when her personal life experience story came out. In order to seek closure from a tough time during childhood in Manipur, which is her home in northeastern India’s corner, she allowed herself to create this narrative naturally. She now makes her directorial debut in Boon after having worked as an assistant director on some classics like Luck by Chance, Talaash, PK, and A Suitable Boy; all these movies have entered Indian film history.
From September 5-15th, 2024, the World Premiere of Boong will take place within Discovery section at the 49th Toronto International Film Festival.
Boong embodies Mannipur memories that are tinged with sorrow signifying production house’s commitment towards bringing touching narratives into global cinema foregrounds.
