An investigation has been initiated by the FBI concerning the accidental demise of a 12-year-old boy who was unable to be saved after careening over the edge of a Royal Caribbean ship back to Galveston, Texas. The event occurred on Saturday night on the last day of a one week western Caribbean cruise which calls on Honduras and Mexico, aboard the ‘Harmony Of The Seas’.
Publication of the press release did not look into the circumstances surrounding the death of this boy. Video footage shows that the cabin’s glass door leads to the Central Park section where the boy jumped from. This section is filled with trees, plants, restaurants, and even shops.
The FBI, as scooped by Washington Post reports, is currently working together with the Coast Guard and US Customs and Border Protection in regard to the investigation accusing one of it’s arms “of being the main federal jurisdictional authority for carrying out high seas offence investigations only.”
The Royal Caribbean had some details to provide as well. The spokesperson said: ‘We are very sorry to have to announce the passing of one of our guests. ‘At this moment, our Care Team is assisting the family of the visitor deceased. Out of respect for the guest and the family, we do not have anything more to add.’
One of the biggest cruise liners is currently Harmony of the seas. It has 18 decks and accommodates 2687 passengers in 6687 guest cabins. The ship further has a number of distinct segments such as a boardwalk, promenade, pool & sports, youth section and central park where the boy fell in.
In 2019, a 16-year-old passenger fell off the same cruise ship and died. While shifting during moving from one balcony to another. Royal Caribbean said, “that we are saddened to report is an unfortunate accident.”
In other derogate events with Royal Caribbean one more occurred when passenger of ‘Explorer of the Seas’ went overboard when the cruise ship was close to coastline of Croatia just recently. It was reported that almost for 40 hours rescuing operations of this British man were also fruitless.
Another unfortunate event occurred in May, when a passenger jumped from Royal Caribbean’s cruise ship Icon of the Seas and drowned someone died. It was the company’s largest ship and this was the first trip after leaving a port in Florida. This man was pulled out of the water and taken back onboard but died later from the injuries sustained.
