On Wednesday, August 21, 2024, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin had a conference with senior officials of the Tamil Nadu government in Chennai.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Wednesday (August 21, 2024) ordered the constitution of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe into the case of sexual assault on students by fake NCC trainers in a private school at Bargur in Krishnagiri district.
The Chief Minister held a meeting with Chief Secretary N. Muruganandham, Director General of Police/Head of Police Force Shankar Jiwal, and other senior officials of the Tamil Nadu government on Wednesday.
According to a press release, Inspector General of Police (Establishment) K. Bhavaneeswari will head the SIT, which will probe into the case registered at Bargur All Women Police Station under the provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The police had already arrested five out of six fake NCC trainers who were involved in the sexual assault and four persons of the school management for hushing up the crime.
According to the press release investigations are underway about if they also committed any crime while conducting some training camps in some schools and colleges where those arrested fake NCC trainers did so.
In addition to this fact that there were many other schools and colleges where these fake NCC trainers conducted their training camps as well before being apprehended is still under investigation said press release.
Besides that; Tamil Nadu’s chief minister also ordered an eight-member Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) headed by Dr Jayashree Muralidharan Principal Secretary Social Welfare Department for taking appropriate measures to help victims and parents and inquire into circumstances leading to incident for proper recommendations aimed at preventing its occurrence henceforth. Members from different departments like School Education/Social Defence/Child Welfare Committee/Psychiatrist/Police were in this MDT.
The charge sheet should be filed within 60 days after the completion of an expeditious investigation by Mr. Stalin within a period of 15 days.
