Thanks to his interview with the Unfiltered by Samdish’s YouTube channel, Arshad Warsi is in the news again. However, he got into trouble when he made a comment that “Prabhas was like a joker in Kalki 2898 AD”. Arshad said that he quoted Rs. 1 lakh for the shoot and that he would take 4 days to complete his work. Earlier, in an interview with Unfiltered by Samdish’s YouTube channel, he also revealed that for choreographing a song of Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja (1993) directed by Boney Kapoor and featuring Anil Kapoor and Sridevi, he was supposed to receive Rs. 75,000 instead of Rs. 1 lakh.
“I’ll try my best,” I told him and then we worked very hard but finished in three days,” said Arshad. To save on costs, “The production guy requested me to finish the song sooner because shooting it for four days would be expensive”, the actor explained.”
In my mind I thought the production would be happy about it. So I went there to get my cheque and they gave me seventy-five thousand rupees.” That’s one full day shoots saved!” And I was not happy with what happened next: ‘No,’ he said ‘for four days it’s one lakh and for three days its seventy five thousand.’
Bollywood Hungama also talked with Boney Kapoor who narrated his own version of events. He responded saying “I read his statement and I laughed. This happened in 1992; now here we are talking about this incident. At that time, there were no stars around him who could have given him such a big amount.”
He explained that Pankaj Parashar directed the entire title {movie}. They divided it into two parts which were shot in James Bond style while others as I recall were done in Singapore or Hong Kong. The producer was Tutu Sharma, and there were many things happening at once.
According to him, “We thought that it would take four days but Pankaj finished it in three days. Even this episode, I do not recollect. As per the agreement Arshad was paid twenty five thousand rupees every day. He received seventy five thousand rupees for three days.” And he called this as non-promised (implied).
Did Arshad Warsi speak about this incident to Boney Kapoor? To that the film maker replied, “No. We were a part of a TV show together. Malaika Arora and Farah Khan were also a part of it. But he never mentioned anything about it until today when suddenly he talks about it all over again. Now everybody wants media attention; I am an easy target.”
Even Pankaj Parashar was contacted by Bollywood Hungama who denied knowledge of budgets saying that “I was not involved with the payments. Do you think Boney even knew who pays whom what? It was said in jest by Arshad.”
But he clarified, “Arshad says that teen din mein usne shoot khatam kiya”. However, it is me who completed the song within 3 days instead. As for him, as a new choreographer, while I took over as director himself did not control how we shot the video. If he wants to be credited let him because after all this shouldn’t become an issue among us.”
