Sanjay Gupta knows Sanjay Dutt since the long ago and the two have been together in a number of films. The last times they worked together was 17 years ago, and their followers cannot wait for another one. In 2022, there were reports that their collaboration is finally happening and after that, there has been no update. According to recent Bollywood Hungama article, Sanjay Gupta was interviewed about this much-awaited venture.

“What happened to all those reports of him doing a film?” queried Sanjay Gupta when asked about such alleged rumours,”We are still planning a film together! In fact just now his manager came to see me”. We have worked out the script and now, we are working out the logistics.”
Can you recall your first meeting with Sanjay Gupta? said a filmmaker famous for his styling and gritty films. “It must be some 35-40 years back when I was an assistant director where I met him shooting for the first time. Later on we visited Kodaikanal for shooting Thanedaar (1990). It was during this outdoor schedule that we hit it off and became friends.”
Sanjay Dutt starred in “Aatish” (1994), which marked Sanjay Gupta’s directorial debut completed 30 years on June 17. This was followed by Khauff (2000), Jung (2000), Kaante (2002), Musafir (2004), Dus Kahaniyaan (2007) and an unfinished project Alibaug. There were also movies like Plan (2004)and Shootout At Lokhandwala (2007) wherein he collaborated with him as well. Thus both of them have acted in as many as 9 films.
Sanjay Dutt admitted, “In so many ways, we grew up together. I know Gups well and I know what he wants from me. Beech mein, main behak gaya tha. I wasn’t taking care of myself and I didn’t want to work with him at a time when I was not at my best. The reason why I hit the gym is that I started preparing myself to work with him again. My home turf awaits me.”
