Priyadarshan, a director who has been around for a while, has teamed up with well-known and respected author Rumy Jafry in his upcoming Bollywood film. The film is described as being an unusual comedy. Speaking exclusively to Bollywood Hungama recently, Jafry himself broke the news.
“I am working on multiple projects as a writer,” Jafry talked about his future plans. “One of them is comedy but very much fresh and in consonance with the world today so it’s Priyadarshan again. I never worked with him before; he makes such good comedies! Another movie I have planned directing too.” He also indicated that the casting process hadn’t yet begun.
His last Hindi movie was “Hungama 2” which came out in 2021. This was followed by several movies down south. “Chehre”, Rumy Jafry’s previous film also reached the screens in 2021. It was also Amitabh Bachchan’s and Emraan Hashmi’s debut as lead actors.
Jafry also mentioned during their conversation that he is now at a stage where he doesn’t feel like signing movies en mass’ly anymore. In recent years, I have become quite choosy,” he said. “There are many films that call themselves comedies but most of them flopped one after another because people don’t want to change anything in them. I cannot write such stuff any more. Unless there is something new for me to tell. My selection criteria are nonetheless based on constant self-improvement.”
He further added, “I do anything if it looks different from what I have done before. For instance, Chehre – my direction of Mr Bachchan’s feature. I never made a thriller so I thought why not make one.”
