At last, Junaid Khan, son of Bollywood’s top star Aamir Khan, has joined the Hindi film industry. His debut was in Maharaj this year, which was directed by Siddharth P Malhotra however the movie had its share of bumps along the way. It faced controversy and got temporarily stalled before it eventually reached to the audiences. In his first interview after movie release with bollywood hungama, he talked about the case that led to delay in release.

“I think we were all on edge a little bit but there was so much faith in this film from all of us including people who have seen it,” said Junaid Khan.
The actor also revealed that people who saw his film even before its release had given their nod for handling everything sensitively. “That faith was always there from Yash Raj Films and Netflix. That gave us some courage,” he concluded.
Maharaj is a story about Karsandas Mulji played by Junaid Khan as an actor whose character is a journalist and social reformer. The 1862 Maharaj Libel Case is the backdrop against which this film explores various societal issues prevailing during India’s pre-independence period.
Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) caused trouble over this movie when they raised objections concerning it being offensive to their religion as Hindus who are nationalists. The details regarding such concerns remain scanty; nevertheless, reports indicate that these could be revolving around alleged misrepresentation of religious figure(s) or historical accuracy of events depicted therein.
