Gaurav Manwane, star of the web show Flames, is preparing for his Bollywood debut with Khel Khel Mein. He stars alongside Akshay Kumar and other actors such as Vaani Kapoor, Fardeen Khan, Pragya Jaiswal, Aditya Seal and Ammy Virk. Mudassar Azi directs the movie, which is scheduled to be released on Independence Day 2024.
If you ask him about it he says “Getting this role feels like a dream come true for me. This is my first film and I am getting to work alongside an incredible cast including Akshay Kumar who was a childhood hero of mine.” In fact I have been his big fan for years now so this chance seems magical to me because it feels unreal; almost like I had wished it into existence.
According to Gaurav, being able to make a film was actually very unexpected but director Mudassar Aziz needed him on set. “One of the assistant directors on the film called me saying that he’d watched one of my previous audition tapes and liked what he saw. Two days later after the auditions were done with I got a call from them that said we got your back and trust me I felt like jumping up in joy when they told me that I would be shooting with Akshay Kumar,” he adds
He did some scenes with them while staying in Udaipur and sharing food such as Taapsee Pannu’s kachoris and Yakhni pulaos or even a meal cooked by Akshay’s chef. But it’s working with Akshay that remains the highlight for him.
Praising his co-star Gaurav Manwane remarks “He is more than just an amazing performer; he’s also one of the simplest people you can get along with unlike many other actors that I have met. It is so easy to approach him for a chat; anyone can do this. My first meeting with him was during a scene where we were together and I couldn’t hide my excitement. His acting is like attending an acting master class. He innovates in every take, that’s incredible. He is very free and I love his style of acting. This whole experience has been really transformative for me; from watching Akshay sir on screen to sharing screen space with him, it’s beyond words.”
