It’s that last month when Aditya Sarpotdar delivered the sleeper super hit of the year – Munjya. This time around, he has another horror comedy named Kakuda. However, this new release went straight to digital but it had to pass through censorship and undergo some cuts.
As per the cut list, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) gave U/A certificate to the movie. Nevertheless, The Examining Committee asked them to remove words ‘harami’ and ‘c*a’. These bad words were changed into something suitable for censoring. In a scene in its first half, the word Hanuman was excised as well.
In addition, CBFC also wanted a deletion of “tits”. It was replaced with “kids” by its creators. This term is used in a scene where characters are reading out an essay on cows. The original dialogue reads, “It has four legs, one tail and four tits”. One of them even hesitates before saying “tits.” But now that it is replaced with kids,” it seems weird that character’s hesitation remains amusingly intact as seen in the film. Interestingly though substitute word for tit is not there in Kakuda’s subtitles available at Zee5 where this movie is streaming.
The filmmakers were also directed to include an anti-superstition disclaimer at starting point. Following these changes being made, on 28th July 2022 the censor certificate was handed over to makers. As reflected on the certificate, length of film is 116 minutes. Simply put Kakuda runs for 1 hour and 56 minutes as shown by this report.
Riteish Deshmukh, Sonakshi Sinha and Saqib Saleem star in Kakuda which is placed on a village haunted by dwarf ghost. That ghost attacks newly married man (played by Saqib Salaam). He will die in 13 days for sure. But, his wife (Sonakshi Sinha) doesn’t take it lying down and she seeks a ghost hunter’s assistance (Riteish Deshmukh).
