Sarfira, featuring Akshay Kumar in the lead role, is ready to be released this Friday, 12th July. This article will focus on this censor completion by the makers.
A certificate with a ‘U’ rating came from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) for Sarfira. However, the Examining Committee had demanded a major alteration. Some abuses were contained in the film, but all these terms were replaced by appropriate words. Secondly, the makers had to submit an affidavit that their film was based on true events. They also gave some documents to support this fact. In the statement made by the authors further expounds on a particular scene involving Vir Mhatre (Akshay Kumar), who happens to meet with former Indian President Mr APJ Abdul Kalam. Additionally, they explained how names of prominent industrialists and brands are used in it. Finally, an NOC from the Ministry of Defence was attached to make up for such declaration.
On July 4th when CBFC members were contented enough, they passed it. The length of Sarfira according to its censor certificate is 155 minutes long. Or maybe let me put it differently; Sarfira’s duration is two hours and thirty-five minutes.
Of course there is no doubt that Sarfira is an official remake based on Soorarai Pottru which premiered in 2020 and starred Suriya among others. That movie had a running time of 2 hours and 29 minutes. To put it differently, this means that when compared with original one six minutes longer version was made out by its remake alone. However thats not everything; even more interestingly Udaan Hindi dubbed version for Soorarai Pottru has less time – only two hours twenty-one minutes long.
The story line behind Sarfira borrows heavily from the events that took place in G R Gopinath’s life (who was the founder of Air Deccan, an Indian low-cost airline). In this film, Suriya who acted as a main character in Soorarai Pottru has made a guest appearance. Additionally, he is one of the producers for both films. The original movie and its dubbed version were premiered on Amazon Prime video but Sarfira will be released at theaters.
Earlier today some murmurs went around indicating that Sarfira may be postponed due to Kalki 2898 AD wave. It is all rumor because according to our source, nothing can stop it now. Yesterday, Akshay Kumar and Radhika Madan attended a grand screening of this film held in Delhi.
