Since the previous year, rumors have been going around that Border’s (1997) sequel is in the making and will also feature Sunny Deol. It was June when the producers let out their announcement video: it received a thundering response. The same has a voice over by Sunny Deol with a redone ‘Sandese Aate hain’, which was a very touching song from the first movie. Also mentioned in the video was that Border 2 would be ‘India’s biggest war film’. This served as an addition to its anticipation. Alongside this announcement there were reports stating that J P Dutta, Nidhi Dutta who is his daughter and her husband Binnoy K Gandhi would produce it. Binnoy’s directorial debut Ghudchadi is all set to release on August 9. And while talking about it exclusively to Bollywood Hungama, we also asked him about Border 2.
Binnoy K Gandhi joyfully exclaimed, “We all have grown up watching Border and we all wanted to join army after watching this movie!.” “Border 2 is coming out great.”, he said excitedly. My wife has written the script – my wife being Nidhi Dutta – read my father has written a great script in your first reaction; wow!. It turned out she had written it. I didn’t believe (laughs). However, her assistant writer confirmed for me that indeed she did it herself as well. This was one of the most proud moments for me personally speaking about this.” On top of that, you can’t beat round one ever; come on man! One fine day she says,” I want to go to Disneyland every July,’. And then writes an appropriate script for Border (laughs)! That’s how we started our journey into making its sequel. So far so good at least. We are planning now onwards to shoot come November.”
Many names are doing rounds regarding other actors casted in Border 2, from Ayushmann Khurrana to Diljit Dosanjh. Binnoy K Gandhi is not responding to these reports. “We will announce the star cast soon, he said.” He also added that in a month we will have a big function where all the members of the main cast together with their roles and get-ups will be unveiled.”
Border 2 is directed by Anurag Singh who shot Kesari (2019).
