The readers could be well aware that after the stupendous success of Gadar and Gadar 2, the filmmaker Anil Sharma has announced enthusiastically about a third instalment of this romantic action drama. While Gadar 2 was also a continuation of Tara and Sakina, which were the characters played by Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel in the prequel, this too is expected to be a sequel. In an interview with Bollywood Hungama recently asked Ameesha Patel if she would like to play mother-in-law in Gadar 3 and the actress replied no way ‘never ever’ play.
That was when Amisha told me that despite being a mother onscreen in both “GADAR: Ek Prem Katha” & “GADAR 2”, there is nothing like playing a mother in law even for the much popular GADAR series. When speaking to Bollywood Hungama, she responded saying, “(I will) never play a mother-in-law, ever, not for Gadar brand, not for any other hero, producer, director? Ever.” She further described what she thought was going on at the end of Gadar 2 saying that her Jeete may or may not have another love interest in the upcoming picture.
Moreover she said: “This is one more thing which many people raised later on that it had no ending. You know Jeete (Utkarsh Sharma), who is son of Tara and Sakina and he kind of had a love interest but due to certain reasons he had to bring back the girl from abroad here.” But didn’t you notice it? Did Sakina recognize her? Tarra-Sakina-Jeet; all three are hugging each other as their family should do in such stressful situations. For instance after they come out from Tajmahal scene because Tajmahal symbolizes love between Tara and Sakina. So, for me it’s always Tara and Sakina. I don’t think there is space for another person here. Definitely, I would not play a mother-in-law for Gadar or any other film. That’s for sure. However, when she played the role of a mother in this movie she was very confident about the concept.
She added, “I was like Ameesha Patel took the risk 22-23 years ago, when the entire industry advised her not to. And she took that risk only because she fell in love with other the film script, and by the grace of God, it was executed to the highest level. And then came Gadar which created history at box office in June 2001. Similarly, I played a mother again, only for Gadar 2, because it was Gadar and it was a carry forward”. Would Ameesha Patel be a mom or mother-in-law to some different brand? As per this she said that: “Would Amisha Patel do another mother/mother-in-law character outside of GADAR series? Not any hero? and Not any producer? Not any director?”
