Bollywood Hungama revealed three weeks ago that there is no relation between the upcoming Akshay Kumar’s “Tirangaa” and the film released in 1993 starring Nana Patekar and Raaj Kumar. Now, Bollywood Hungama has come to know another exclusive information related to the film – it will be directed by Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan, a well known name in bollywood.
A source told us, “The producers of the film – Ashvin Varde, Subhash Kale, Narendra Hirawat and even Akshay Kumar – understood Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan would be the right person to make a film of this style and make it commercially viable. This is how the acclaimed director came on board.”
The source further said, “Tirangaa is anticipated to be shot in early 2024 and will be ready by December 2024.”
He has previously directed Lahore (2010) and 72 Hoorain (2023), both National award winners. He also served as a screenwriter on Ranveer Singh’s cricket drama ’83 (2021).
Sanjay and Akshay’s efforts were almost fruitful as they nearly joined hands to act in a movie named Gorkha. It was supposed to be made under the banner of Aanand L Rai and went on a break after the announcement. Speaking to Bollywood Hungama in January 2023, Aanand L Rai recalled that yes, it is true. We are not making this film for now. There are technical issues. There are factual clarifications that need to be made.”
This year she was going to make Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan Central Park, but with the late Sushant Singh Rajput in the lead role and the space movie “Chandamama Door Ke”.
The release date of Tirangaa is not an old copycat for it as claimed by one of the producers on August 10. He said, ‘Yes indeed, we are producing a film, with Shri Akshay Kumar, but we would like to categorically state that it is NOT a remake of any film. Nobody acknowledged that they were remaking the film – or at least until nowadays. There have also been honest attempts from our end to put the record straight in light of the facts.’
