EXCLUSIVE: Abhijeet Bhattacharya to make a big return after 11 years with a 90s-like song in Panchayat Season 3
Career as playback singer began with the 80’s and went on till the 90’s when he became an integral part of Hindi film music. He sang some extremely popular songs that were picturised on many top actors at that time. But there has been a reduction in his voice singing so many songs since last decade. So, it will certainly be surprising for fans of Abhijeet Bhattacharya to know that he is the one who has sung this beautiful track for Panchayat season three which has also become the most awaited web show of this season.
The name of the song is ‘Thame Dil Ko’ which has been composed by Lalit Pandit from Jatin-Lalit fame. It is penned by Alok Ranjha Jha. A romantic solo in between, adds more impact to the show and helps in easing off cute moments too. ‘Thame Dil Ko’ also gives a feel of being purely 90s. In fact, one may think while watching it initially that it belongs to any other movie released during nineties only!
It is therefore his biggest debut into Hindi film music after several years; last famous song for Bollywood movie sung by him was called ‘Dil Ka Jo Hal Hai’, from Besharam (2013) starring Ranbir Kapoor; coincidentally, also composed by Lalit Pandit and had the same vibe.
After Besharam, he gave voice overs for recreations such as ‘Shehar Ki Ladki’ in Khandaani Shafakhana (2019) and ‘Husn Hai Suhana’ in Coolie No 1 (2020). There are other movies too where Abhijeet sang his heart out and those include Mahayoddha Rama (2016), Shukranu (2020) which was an OTT film, Love You Loktantra (2022) and The Purvanchal Files (2023). But none of these songs were noticed. Interestingly, ‘Thame Dil Ko’ was also used previously on another web show called Flames Season 2(2019). However, because of its presence in the very popular Panchayat Season 3, ‘Thame Dil Ko’ has a potential to become a major hit.
Amazon Prime Video started streaming Panchayat Season 3 on May 28. It picks the narrative from where it left off last season and is set in a sleepy North Indian village named Phulera. Jitendra Kumar, Raghubir Yadav, Neena Gupta, Faisal Malik and Chandan Roy are the lead actors here.
