A court here on Saturday reserved for June 5 its order on an application moved by Arvind Kejriwal’s, the Chief Minster of Delhi and AAP supremo seeking interim bail in a money laundering case linked to the alleged excise policy scam.
Special Judge Kaveri Baweja observed that this is an application for grant of interim bail on medical grounds and not for extension of interim bail granted by the Supreme Court and reserved order accordingly.
Mr. Kejriwal’s interim relief given to him by apex court ends on June 1, where he must surrender himself by Sunday.
Kejriwal made a tearful appeal to people on May 31st asking them to look after his “ailing” parents as he prepares himself for returning back to Tihar Jail on June 2nd.
Mr. Kejriwal’s was release on May 10th after being granted an interim bail until June 1st by the Supreme Court so that he could campaign for Lok Sabha election. He was arrest by Enforcement Directorate (ED) on March 21st in connection with a money laundering case linked to Delhi’s Excise Policy (2021-22), which shifted him to Tihar jail since April 1st. The ED has slapped various provisions under PMLA against him claiming him as ‘kingpin’ behind this alleged scam.
Kejriwal’s announced that he will be returning into jail; “I am going back to prison again because I want my country saved from dictatorship.”
“They kept me locked up last time for many days, but my spirit is still alive; I do not know what they will do with me this time around if they are able to make it worse at all.” They tortured me many ways though they could not succeed last time. “I will leave my house at 3 p.m. to surrender this time tomorrow,” he said on May 31st.
