Bushra Bibi, the wife of a former Pakistani prime minister, on Tuesday was released on bail.
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) began investigating Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi in December last year for allegedly acquiring large tracts of land through Al Qadir University Trust.
Imran Khan received bail in IHC on May 15th as he was accused over land corruption charges.
Thus, British taxpayers are said to have lost £190m ($238m).
Al-Qadir trust scandal billions of rupees (£1.67bn) were spent by the UK’s National Crime Agency. The real estate tycoon had recovered this amount from Britain and returned it to Pakistan. During his first tenure as Prime Minister, he chose to let the business magnate use it partially to settle a fine imposed by the Supreme Court years ago amounting to about Rs450bn and which could otherwise be deposited into our national exchequer.
