Will Elon Musk run for President? What the Tesla CEO said

Billionaire CEO of Tesla and SpaceX Elon Musk clarified that despite his immense influence and growing role in politics, Musk made it clear that he has no desire to seek the highest office in the United States. Speaking at a recent event, Musk acknowledged that although his grandfather was American, his birthplace disqualifies him from running for president.More importantly, he reiterated his passion for technology and innovation over politics.
“My grandfather was American, but I was born in Africa, so I cannot be president,” Musk said. He added, “But I actually don’t want to be president. I want to build rockets and cars. I believe we want to be a spacefaring civilization, and that’s where my focus will remain.”
Musk said that that his primary goal is advancing technology, particularly in space exploration and electric vehicles. “I love creating technologies that people find useful,” Musk said, further distancing himself from any political ambitions.
Despite his lack of interest in running for office, Musk has become increasingly involved in political rallies, vocing his support for Republican candidate Donald Trump. Musk has committed to working on government efficiency if Trump is re-elected. Musk said, “I’m hoping that we get President Trump elected, and then I’ll work hard on the department of government efficiency.” This role would involve reducing what he sees as excessive federal spending.

“I’ll work hard on the department of government efficiency. After that, I hope I can not be in politics. That would be my hope. I’m doing this because I think it’s critical to the future of the country. And if America falls, nothing else matters,” the Tesla CEO said.
Musk’s comments come on the heels of Trump’s announcement that who had earlier announced that he would establish a government efficiency commission, with Musk at the helm, if he wins the election. During a speech at the New York Economic Club, Trump outlined his vision, vowing to perform a thorough audit of federal spending to eliminate “fraud and improper payments.” He said, “I will create a government efficiency commission tasked with conducting a complete financial and performance audit of the entire federal government.” In response, Musk expressed enthusiasm for the role on X, saying, “I look forward to serving America if the opportunity arises. No pay, no title, no recognition is needed.”
