The 1971 State Bank of India scam in Delhi is the foundation for a new untitled movie by Ellipsis Entertainment, which according to the story, involved a double agent named Rustom Nagarwala.
This film will explore one of the most scandalous heists in Indian banking history where a team of DSIO officers led by Chanakya Puri’s then SHO Hari Dev Kaushal played detective and solved it, he was an old school cop who always went against the grain and passed away at 91 as beloved officer called Panditji.
It is worth noting that Hari Dev Kaushal happens to be Rahul Dev and Mukul Dev’s father. Furthermore, it does not get any better than Mukul, who penned Hansal Mehta’s ‘Omerta’ himself is on board along with Suprotim Sengupta and Kunal Aneja, after doing extensive primary and secondary research.
The hunt for a suitable actor to play Hari Dev Kaushal in Ellipsis Entertainment’s next project gets underway before being followed by a star-studded cast that will bring depth and authenticity to all the important characters connected with this case. According to Tanuj Garg from Ellipsis, “Being an ardent fan of spy children literature made me curious about this situation even more than ever since it still remains unresolved. Among many others associated with the investigation including its main suspect were dropping dead months after.” He added: “We would like to finalize the cast soon so we can start shooting.”
Atul Kasbekar also said, “In my early years as a photographer in 1990s I worked with both Rahul and Mukul Dev who are my friends personally too; I was fortunate enough to have some personal moments with their dad Mr. Hari Dev.” It makes sense that Hari Dev Ji is portrayed as a hero here because he was one,” ended Atul Kasbekar.
