The Bharatiya Janata Party has largely managed to retain its stronghold seats, meaning constituencies where it had won in the previous three or more elections, in this 2024 general election.

Till 11.45 am today, trends have shown that out of the 94 seats won by the BJP in the last three general elections; it is leading in 79 and trailing in 15 so far. These are based on data released till 11.45 am. Numbers will be updated with more votes being counted.

Seats Lost
These are the fifteen places where BJP has been left behind:
Jalna from Maharashtra where they have been winning since about seven general polls ago and their leading candidate for these Lok Sabha elections from Indian National Congress (INC) is Kalyan Vaijinathrao Kale.
Churu from Rajasthan has also been taken over by INC’s Rahul Kaswan ahead of these Lok Sabha polls after five successive times voting for BJP party.
They are located across fourteen states and Union Territories but most of them are found again predominantly in Madhya Pradesh (16), Karnataka (15) and Gujarat (15).
In addition, there were also seven seats where party had won nine consecutive general elections: Gandhinagar, Surat, Bhind, Bhopal, Damoh, Indore and Vidisha.
Note that these delimitation changed many boundaries of these constituencies but not the names when done so in 2008.
