New Delhi: election committee Ordered on Sunday transfer of Andhra Pradesh DGP KV Rajendranath Reddy, with immediate effect, sources say poll panel believes he allegedly supports domination immunityespecially the Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy.
The state government submits a panel of three DG-level, eligible persons on the instructions of the EC IPS officerwas appointed as the new DGP by Monday.
Sources in the poll panel told TOI that four senior officials of the Andhra Pradesh government, including one from the executive hierarchy and three from the police department, have long been suspected by the electoral commission of being “cartels”. to help the election campaign and prospects of Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy. All four officials are associated with the chief minister’s home district of Kadapa, where his constituency is also located, and belong to the same community as him.
Incidentally, the EC had transferred one of the four officials – DGP (Intelligence) P Sitaramanjaneyulu – earlier on April 23. a source said, adding that the EC hoped the two transfers would serve as a stern warning to the other two police officers to follow discipline.
“The commission has been monitoring these officials for some time and feels that their actions are biased as they are allegedly close to the chief minister. While the DGP (Intel) was earlier withdrawn, the EC has now decided to transfer the DGP as well to Ensure a level playing field ahead of the Andhra Pradesh Lok Sabha and Assembly polls on May 13,” an official told TOI.
This is the second state-level director general to be removed by the Election Commission in this general election. Earlier, West Bengal Additional Advocate General Rajiv Kumar was fired for allegedly being too close to the Mamata Banerjee government.
