Due to the rise in death threats against Sikh separatist leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar’s aide, the Canadian police have placed one such individual under warning. Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, a well-known Sikh terrorist, stated on Tuesday that the Indian Canadian Gosal has received a ‘duty to warn notice’ from the authorities in Ontario, in cooperation with Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
This is the first time that Gosal is receiving such a warning. It also directs the FBI about nijjar. The warning was issued this week, to Gosal who was Nijjar’s aide when he was assassinated in June 2023. This assassination of nijjar has become a subject of much debate because as recently as September 2023 Prime Minister Justin Trudeau accused India of probable involvement in the murder. Since then, Canadian officials have charged four individuals in relation to this particular murder. India has however claimed that there was no part of theirs in this incident.
The shooting, timed just one day after the rally, exacerbates the already existing tensions surrounding Nijjar’s case, as federal authorities have tried to depoliticize the mouse mouse case. The united state Federal Bureau of Investigation looking into the investigation has folded in likelihood of threats against Sikh separatists.
India has alleged that Canada has welcomed Sikh radicals who agitate for the creation of Khalistan, a country to be formed from the Indian Punjab. In regard to the threats, Gosal stated: “I have been informed of such threats to my life by Canadian officials. Nevertheless, I will not give up the vision for freeing Punjab from Indian subjugation.”
No representatives of Ontario’s police or the national federal police RCMP could be reached for comment and publication at a short notice. No comment was given by the Additional office of Canadian Public Safety Minister Dominic LeBlanc, the minister responsible for the enforcement.
In another development that would sugar the most boring parties, in June 2023, the FBI intercepted what they called a plot to kill Pannun; Nikhil Gupta, an Indian national, is being prosecuted for conspiratorial murder under the supervision of Indian intelligence.
