Donald Trump, former US president, talked about his previous discussions on Russian President Vladimir Putin when being interviewed by Tesla CEO Elon Musk via his platform X (previously known as Twitter).
On Monday, Trump in a conversation recalled one particular talk with Putin about Ukraine. “We would discuss Ukraine many times. It was the object of his love and affection. But I told him, ‘Stop it. Never do it.’,” Trump informed Musk.
“I told Vladimir Putin not to do that. Vladimir you can’t do this okay? You do this, something terrible is going to happen to you today. And I think he said like I will never agree to this kind of thing but then we ended up having that discussion for the last time.”
While speaking on his relationship with Russia’s leader after leaving office, the ex-president said: “I know Putin very well. I got along with him very well. He respected me. And it’s just one of those things. And he would, we would talk a lot about Ukraine. It was the apple of his eye, but I said, don’t ever do it.”
Trump also addressed allegations that he leaned towards Russia and President Putin during his presidency.“They say I loved Russia, I was a friend of Putin and I loved Russia.” Trump responded in denial.“He actually told me once when he said if you are my friend i hate to see what they would be as an enemy i shut down their pipeline biggest pipeline.”
