'Make Greenland great again': Donald Trump Jr visits Nuuk with message from father

The eldest son of President-elect Donald Trump arrived in Greenland on Tuesday with a message from his dad “we’re going to treat you well.”
Trump told Greenlanders as Donald Trump Jr visited the resource-rich Danish territory, which houses a significant US military installation, fuelling discussions about potential American acquisition. Later, the president-elect said that he wouldn’t rule out using military force or economic coercion to gain control of Greenland, citing national security concerns, AP news agency reported.
The president-elect shared footage of an aircraft bearing the TRUMP logo arriving in Nuuk, surrounded by the territory’s characteristic mountainous terrain.
“Don Jr and my Reps landing in Greenland,” Trump wrote. “The reception has been great. They, and the Free World, need safety, security, strength, and PEACE! This is a deal that must happen. MAGA. MAKE GREENLAND GREAT AGAIN!” Footage later emerged of Trump speaking with local residents via telephone.

Greenlandic authorities clarified that Donald Trump Jr’s visit was conducted in a personal capacity, not officially, and local representatives would not engage with him.
The visit, primarily for podcast content creation, lasted approximately one day. The footage of Trump Jr’s trip is recorded by the “Art of the Surge” team who later shared on their X account. Notably, the “Art of the Surge” a series which will show Trump’s journey.
Sharing the video on X, the team said, “This is a first and only look at Donald Trump Jr’s historic trip to Greenland. We boarded Trump Force One in the early hours of the morning for the journey to a country that President-Elect Donald Trump insists will become part of the United States.”

After visiting Greenland, the eldest son of Donald Trump said that they love America and Trump. He further stated that they just want to be able to utilize some of the incredible resources that they have and allow themselves, their country, and their kids to flourish.

Mininguaq Kleist, permanent secretary of the ministry of statehood and foreign affairs, confirmed to The Associated Press that Trump Jr’s stay was scheduled for four to five hours, with neither party requesting formal meetings.
The visit carried political significance, as the president-elect has previously expressed interest in acquiring the strategically valuable Arctic territory.
Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen maintained that Greenland’s future lies in Greenlandic hands, while acknowledging America’s position as Denmark’s primary ally. She emphasised that Greenland remains unavailable for purchase.
Greenland, situated between two oceans and largely ice-covered, houses approximately 56,000 residents, predominantly Indigenous Inuit people.
