The finale of Kalki 2898 AD was a suspenseful one that made the audience long for more. Hence, they will not have to wait for long because work on the sequel has already started.

According to Director Nag Ashwin, “Yes, work is happening on the second one…We had shot portions of it in the earlier schedules while part one was being filmed. The shooting took about 20 days. However, but there’s still a long way to go in terms of planning and thinking.” Besides, he pointed out, “However, I think that this time around we should spend less time completing and releasing the second part than we spent doing so for the first.”

Kalki 2898 AD took about five years to develop due to advanced visual effects used in making its planet come alive June marked the opening of this film which cast Amitabh Bachchan as well as Deepika Padukone Prabhas and Kamal Hassan in principal roles.

The filmmaker got inspiration from Mahabharata for his film’s plot and says it will be continued in episode two as well.

Ashwin said, “It didn’t happen because what we chose to do and how we did it were such places,” he continued. What’s written in Mahabharata; Ashwin expressed similarly straightforwardly.

Ashwin also explained that he thought now was the right time to show our own stories here at home. “I felt it was that time when I wanted (to) tell this story There is a huge audience in our country- not just cities but smaller towns who embrace stories like Marvel and Star Wars. It felt like we should try having our own superheroes which are very Indian,” concluded Ashwin.
