Kill, a thrilling movie directed by debutant Lakshya and acted in by Raghav Juyal, former dancer turned actor has captured the attention of critics through its gory visuals and intense storyline. It is not yet clear whether it can ever be remade in any Indian language films; but Dharma Productions and Sikhya Entertainment, the film production companies that produced this film have recently refuted rumors that remake rights have been sold.

One of the most interesting things about Kill was its casting decisions. It starred a newcomer, Lakshya, as its lead character while Raghav Juyal, who was primarily known for his dancing skills, played an unexpected role as the film’s villain. Its brutal fight scenes and “A” certificate due to graphic violence perpetuated this reputation.

The film has sold its remake rights to John Wick which will do a Hollywood adapted version meanwhile there are reports that some other languages can also do their own versions. These claims however have been denied by Dharma Productions. The statement reads: “Although these rumblings are false regarding our Kill being remade – we want to confirm that only English language remake rights exist at moment right now. There has been no acquisition of any Indian language versions as yet.”

Earlier on though it was reported Sudheer Babu and Kiran Abbavaram were in contention for getting the South Indian rights for remake.

This is a story of love between Amrit (Lakshya) and Tulika (Tanya Maniktala) in Kill relating to them having arranged marriage hurdle. With his friend Viresh (Raghav Juyal), Amrit takes risks to win back Tulika resulting into highly action packed events.

According to Deadline, 87Eleven Entertainment company behind box office hits like John Wick will be partnering with Dharma Productions & Sikhya Entertainment to produce the project. In a joint statement issued by producers they expressed their excitement saying, “We are thrilled that 87Eleven Entertainment will produce a remake of our film in English.” They believe this is “the biggest win for Indian cinema” and is indicative of the potential for global success in the movie.

Kill was released on July 5, 2024.
