Dhadak 2 is confirmed to be a remake of Pa Ranjith’s Tamil film Pariyerum Perumal featuring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri.
Zee Studios, Dharma Productions, and Cloud 9 Pictures have partnered to present Dhadak 2 which will have a spell bounding story for the audience with fresh lead pair. Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri are at the heart of this much awaited sequel. The directorial reins are in the hands of Shazia Iqbal, who has promised to bring us a love story that delves into the intricacies of human emotions set against societal barriers. However, it was later discovered that the movie was actually a remake of Pariyerum Perumal released on 2018 starring Kathir and Anandhi while Yogi Babu and G. Marimuthu appear in supporting roles. The end card of Hindi version’s announcement confirmed this news.
Pariyerum Perumal (meaning ‘The Wandering God’) is a Tamil political drama film from 2018 directed by Pa Ranjith. It tells the story of Pariyan (Kathir), a young man from a marginalized Dalit caste known as “Pallars” in rural Tamil Nadu who undergoes humiliation and discrimination from upper-class “Vanniyar.” Pariyan falls in love with Jothi (Anandhi), belonging to Vanniyar caste which is considered socially superior to his own whereas such relationships are prohibited by their society based on hierarchy. The film tackles issues surrounding untouchability, caste violence, and fight for equality.
Its bold portrayal about sensitive topics brought some controversies; thus, faced some criticisms towards its audacious representation some controversial themes were addressed through this movie tooIt also got critics talking about castism debates that takes place presently within India. Additionally, Santhosh Narayanan’s powerful music in the film’s soundtrack was much appreciated.
On the other hand, Dhadak 2 is a continuation of the successful Dhadak series. The main theme of the film is crystal clear; love that does not recognize social statuses. Will they go ahead to find joy in one another against all odds?
