The Aviation Authority DGCA, issued Air India a warning letter on May 31st due to delayed departure of two or more international flights and failure to take care of the passengers.
DGCA issued Air India a show-cause notice on May 31 for inordinate delay of at least two international flights and failure to take due care of passengers.
This includes AI 183 flight from Delhi to San Francisco on May 30 and AI 179 flight from Mumbai to San Francisco on May 24, stated by the regulator in its notice.
Both flights were late, with inadequate cabin cooling causing discomfort for the passengers. As per the show cause notice, there have been other incidents of passenger discomfort as a result of violation of DGCA regulations by AI.
In addition, it was stated that the national carrier has “time and again failed in taking due care of passengers” and it was not adhering to its provisions relating to facilities airlines ought to provide their passengers during denied boarding, cancellations or delays in them
“The matter is hereby called upon Air India demanding reasons why enforcement action should not be taken against the airline,” agency noted while referring to these violations.
An official disclosed that Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia took cognisance of the flight delays and inconvenience caused to passengers after which the show cause notice was served.
