Delhi Chief Minister and AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal being taken to a court by CBI officials in New Delhi on June 29, 2024 concerning the Delhi liquor policy with regard to a money laundering case.
Arunachal Pradesh: The Delhi High Court on July 2 asked the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for its response to an appeal by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal against his detention in a graft case related to the ‘scam’ under excise policy and the order of a defaulting court remanding him into custody of this agency.
Mr. Justice Neena Bansal Krishna issued notice requiring the CBI to respond within seven days. In two days, if necessary, Mr. Kejriwal’s counsel may file rejoinder.

In addition to his apprehension, party chief Aam Aadmi Party has also contested two orders passed by the trial judge on June 26 and June 29 sending him for three-day custody with CBI and subsequently judicial custody till July 12 respectively.
The arrest took place after hours whereupon a special judge Amitabh Rawat cited findings from an investigation, alleged involvement of Mr Kejriwal and need for confrontation with material evidence as grounds upon which such detainment was made; he however cautioned against agencies getting “overzealous”.

Informed that he would come back before the higher judiciary challenging final decision of high court stayed bail order because it did not appreciate ED while Senior Advocate A M Singhvi, counsel for Kejriwal, sought the court’s permission to withdraw his petition for bail which he had filed yesterday. The impugned order by Special Judge Niyay Bindu criticized ED for failing to produce any evidence linking Mr. Kejriwal with proceeds of crime on record.
