Congress party’s Delhi unit interim president Devinder Yadav said the meeting was held to improve coordination between workers of the two parties
The AAP and Congress Coordination Committee met on Friday to discuss the alliance’s strategy for the Lok Sabha elections in Delhi.
Polling for seven seats in the national capital will be held in the sixth phase on May 25.
Devinder Yadav, interim chief of the Congress party’s Delhi unit, said the meeting was held to improve coordination between workers of the two parties.
“Today, we held a meeting to strengthen coordination between workers on both sides. We made some important decisions. Seven coordinators have been elected,” he said.
Yadav and senior Congress leaders Subhash Chopra and Anil Bhardwaj were present at the meeting. AAP MPs Durgesh Pathak, Dilip Pandey and others attended the meeting.
Pathak said, “When the alliance was formed, coordination was very important. A meeting of all coordinators was held for this purpose. As per the seat allocation arrangement between the two constituencies of the Indian Group, the Congress party fielded candidates from three seats while The United Party of India is contesting from four seats.
AAP MLA Rajesh Gupta will be the coordinator for the New Delhi constituency, while the West Delhi seat will be held by another party MLA Naresh Balyan.
Another AAP MLA Dinesh Mohaniya has been appointed as South Delhi constituency coordinator. Party leaders Pawan Sharma and Mukesh Ahlawat oversee Chandni Chowk and North West Delhi constituencies respectively.
AAP’s Burari MLA Sanjeev Jha is the coordinator for North East Delhi constituency, while Timarpur MLA Dilip Pandey will be the coordinator for East Delhi constituency.
