Singer Daler Mehndi is set to release “Ankhiyan Te Ja Ladiyan” his latest track. Following an electrifying performance at Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s wedding, the singer has chosen July 25 as the release date for this highly-anticipated song.
Daler Mehndi collaborates with Qawwali singers Ustad Sher Ali and Ustad Mehr Ali for upcoming single ‘Ankhiyan Te Ja Ladiyan’.
“Ankhiyan Te Ja Ladiyan” offers a combination of traditional Punjabi music and contemporary style. The song includes the enchanting rhythms of Balochi dhol as opposed to the usual Punjabi dhol., according to a report in Mid-day. Besides being its composer, one can notice that Mehndi conveys an optimistic message through the number when he says. “I like it because there is no mention of alcohol or anything derogatory about it. It’s nice how it was written.”
“This is pure Punjabi songs,” states Daler Mehndi while explaining. I needed music reminiscent of old, [traditional] songs that would not look like they are borrowed from someone else’s library collection.” According to him, “It has all been associated with my taste in sound.”
This track is a labor of love involving eight years and finding time with legendary Qawwali vocalists Ustad Sher Ali and Ustad Mehr Ali who spent 8 months on it. “They have such good voices at the age of 75”, boasts Mehendi. “For me to collaborate with guys like these who could do this type song was imperative,”
“The melodies that made me famous 30 years ago,” he says looking back at his music career. ”They were not ‘Punjabi music’. ‘It was music by Daler Mehendi.’ I am happy that people still listen to my tracks even after all these years. Moreover, they are passed down to the next generation.”
