Dabur India Limited, the Ayurvedic and natural FMCG company has signed a facilitation Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Tamil Nadu government to establish a new consumer goods manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu which will be Dabur’s first one in South India. The MoU stipulates an initial investment of Rs 135 crore for Phase 1 development, which would further scale up to about Rs 400 crore over a span of five years.
In fact, this project is expected to create around 250 jobs directly besides generating job opportunities for thousands of others, indirectly.
Dabur’s state-of-the-art multi-category manufacturing facility will be established at SIPCOT Tindivanam in Tamil Nadu. This will be one of Dabur’s modern and greenest plants built to manufacture different products for southern end users.
The message posted on X (formerly Twitter) by Tamil Nadu Industries Minister T.R.B. Rajaa read: “Welcome to Tamil Nadu, @DaburIndia ! In fact, welcome to South India! Our Chief Minister M.K. Stalin today signed an MoU with Dabur for the establishment of a world-class manufacturing plant, their first in South India, at the SIPCOT Food Park in #Tindivanam, Villupuram district. ₹400 crore investment by Dabur at this facility will result into creation of more than 250 jobs. More importantly it will open up new opportunities for farmers in the nearby delta region to sell agroproduce to be processed in this facility (sic).”
“Our Chief Minister being from the delta and myself also being an MLA from this region too it brings great joy that we are going to finally make food processing links that are appropriate for industrializing Delta(sic).”
“By investing such amounts here we shall have access to better serve our customers who are so demanding as well as increase our presence across South India. Therefore we expect to contribute towards the growth of Tamil Nadu’s economy through job creation as well as by working with local vendors and suppliers,” stated Dabur India Limited chief executive officer Mohit Malhotra.
According to Dabur India Limited global head of operations Rahul Awasthi, “Our new facility at SIPCOT will be equipped with the latest technology, allowing us to maintain the highest standards of quality and operational efficiency in everything we produce. This will also enhance our sourcing of agricultural produce from local farmers in Tamil Nadu.”
