Three people died after crude bombs exploded inside a house at Sagarpara police station in West Bengal’s Murshidabad district. The explosion occurred at Khairtala area of Sagarpara on Sunday (December 8, 2024) night in the house of Mamun Mollah.
According to reports, crude bombs were being assembled in the house when the explosion occurred bringing the roof down of the house.
The deceased have been identified as Mamun Mollah, Sakirul Sarkar and Mustakin Seikh. Mamun Molla and Sakirul Sarkar are residents of Khairtala, while Mustakin Seikh is from the nearby Mahtab colony area. There was a deployment of a large police contingent near the site of the explosion.
Murshidabad is a hot spot of political violence and there have been several deaths due to crude bomb explosions over the past few years.
In another development a Trinamool Congress gram panchayat member was killed in Kulpi in South 24 Parganas district on Sunday. Nuruddin Halder was a resident of Daulatpur village and was a member of Gazipur gram panchayat. The deceased was attacked by a group of miscreants on Sunday evening when he was on his way to offer prayers at a local mosque.
