On Friday, Home Minister Amit Shah and the Bharatiya Janata Party President J.P. Nadda both declared that Congress’s refusal to engage in exit poll debates is proof of the party’s acknowledgement of defeat in the Lok Sabha elections.
Congress has been in “denial mode” ever since Rahul Gandhi played a significant role within its organization, Mr. Shah said in a statement.
Home Minister Amit Shah and his wife Sonal Shah, at Kashi Vishwanath Temple in Varanasi.
“The Congress’s ran through the campaign that it would get majority during polls. But now it has come to know reality and understands that after tomorrow’s elections it will go down into a hole while facing exit polls,” Mr. Shah stated.
Moreover, there was no question like this as per him, so that congress doesn’t have face for interviews therefore they are just discrediting exit poll exercise by stating that they don’t make sense; he added.
Shah’s ‘introspect’
He also added that instead of denying what is obvious the Congress’s should rather introspect on the same note because they only castigate either any court judgment or election results whenever they are not favorable.
“While BJP had lost many polls including state assembly ones but we never boycott media or exits,” he said while displaying confidence exit polls shall show ruling alliance scoring “400-paar”.
The decision by the Congress not to participate in any exit poll debate on news channels about Lok Sabha is an equivocal confirmation by which they have conceded 2024 Lok Sabha Elections according to Mr. Nadda.
These comments were published on Indian Express where he requested voters not to ‘waste’ their votes during phase seven and last day of polling taking place tomorrow pointing out how Congress’s normally stays away when result isn’t expected to be good but suddenly shows up if possibility looks remote even; outside chance so as not go waste your vote with them phase 7,” he declared.
The Congress will not indulge in speculation, said the leader of the opposition party.
“The results will be out on 4th June. Prior to that, we do not see any reason to indulge in speculation and slugfest for TRP,” a statement from Pawan Khera, Congress’s spokesperson said.
In response Mr. Nadda replied that “The decision by the Congress is an unequivocal confirmation that the congress has conceded the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.”
Even more troubling, according to Mr. Nadda, is the Congress’s antipathy towards the greatest democratic process on earth which had over 960 million aspirations involved.
Here’s what he said; “Whilst Indians were choosing their leader” who would lead them into a new world order where they could improve their lives and bring opportunities and prosperity; back at home; hitherto our thriving democracy rested on these very processes; The Congress was busy trying to undermine this institutional process itself.” He argued.
Instead of fighting election and trying to win it back from its opponents, this opposition approaches supreme court every now then with absurd demands in order to “mutilate” well established electoral process.
“Congress has no complaints on the EVMs or electoral process when it wins. For instance, Himachal Pradesh and Telangana. But cries nonstop when it sees a landslide defeat coming,” he said.
While the Congress was singled out, Mr Nadda noted that its extended ecosystem which is “inimical” to India’s interests also comes together to create cacophony and makes all attempts to undermine people’s faith in democratic institutions and process.
“They do not leave any stone unturned. They target Supreme Court, judges who don’t give them orders as per their liking; they bash journalists who refuse to be their cheerleaders; they defile Election Commission of India; demolish integrity of data and process,” he said.
Mr Nadda noted that by choosing to boycott the exit poll exercise, they cast aspersions on exercise carried out by several professional agencies involving thousands of associates across the country who have worked tirelessly for bringing forth what people may have voted for.
“Is it Congress’s argument that there is a huge conspiracy involving millions of voters taking place simply to make fun of Congress for next few days till the actual result come 4th June?” He asked.
To him, this is not how India’s grand old party should “behave like a child whose toy has been taken away”.
One expects a certain level of maturity from the largest political party in opposition, he added.
