In a complaint lodged in Bengaluru, Karnataka state Congress committee has sought the police’s deeper probe within BJP MLA Basanagouda Patil Yatnal’s assertions of there being ‘crores’ of rupees kept aside to topple the government headed by CM Siddaramaiah in Karnataka.
Congress leader V.S. Ugrappa, in his complaint made on 30th September also attached pen drive containing news clip and videos of Mr. Yatnal’s statement as well.
In the complaint, Mr. Ugrappa stated that basing on Mr. Yatnal’s statement, it was obvious that there was a plan to overthrow the elected Congress ruled government in Karnataka with the money obtained from bribery.
The senior leader appealed to policemen to act urgently and retrieve the criminal proceeds that Mr. Yatnal made mention of and sought prosecution. The High Grounds police have accepted the complaint and sent it for legal advice prior to filling an FIR as a standard procedural requirement.
On September 29, Mr. Yatnal addressed a press conference at Davangere and said “our great leader” allotted ₹ 1000 crores to replace him as CM of Karnataka. On being asked the journalist who the leader was, he winked that a currency counting machine was seized from this leader’s house.
“Individuals such as yourselves understand who the present leader in question is. I will not say his name. They had also previously discovered a currency counting machine inside his premises. Its ‘neta’ is predicting a huge upheaval in the State politics in the month of December,” the MLA had stated.
