VMC Commissioner H.M. Dhyanachandra surveyed the Budameru rivulet in Vijayawada on Thursday.
On his part, Municipal Commissioner H. M. Dhyanachandra ordered for spraying of mosquito repellent oil through flying drones where workers cannot access to avoid mosquitoes breeding.
This follows Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s recent statement urging urban local bodies to adopt modern tools and techniques for controlling the larvae of mosquitoes living in canal.
According to him, there should be more green cover and regular maintenance of cleanliness is necessary to prevent accumulation of waste that provides a good environment for hatching mosquito larvae.
Commissioner Dhyanachandra also informed them about how this action would lower pollution levels, enhance oxygen supply and thus improve public health; telling respective officials to use machinery when cleaning up all three city canals: Ryves canal, Bandar Canal and Eluru Canal.
